Essential Diet for Pregnancy
A healthy diet is a very important aspect in our life and most especially when you’re eating for two. A healthy lifestyle has to be maintained in our daily life and especially when you are eating for two and a new precious life. You have to make sure that every bite you take is beneficial for the unborn and provides all the nutrients for the need of the expected, this will help the unborn to grow and develop healthier not only in the womb but when he is newly born.
It’s not necessary that you should take a fancy diet. A diet plan that covers all the vitamins and nutrients is the vital thing. Fresh fruit and vegetables have no comparison when it comes to healthy and rich diet. But since at this time the mother has to take double care and diet so it is important to take extra vitamins and minerals supplements too. As far as the healthy diet is concern following are some tips.
- Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits during your pregnancy as they provide minerals and vitamins as well as fiber which helps digestion and can prevent problems like constipation. Eat at least five portions of variety of vegetables and fruits a day.
- Take some protein diet like meat, fish, nuts, beans, eggs during your pregnancy.
- Dairy foods such as milk, butter, cheese and yogurt are important in pregnancy as they contain calcium other nutrients that your baby needs. Choose low fat varieties where ever possible such as skimmed milk, semi-skimmed milk, and low sugar low fat yogurt. Consume at least two to three portion a day.
- If you find yourself hungry between meals, avoid high fat/sugar snacks like sweets, biscuits, crisps or chocolates. Instead try to eat something healthier like sandwiches, salad vegetables (carrot, celery or cucumber), apricots, figs, fresh fruits, milky drinks, baked beans or baked potatoes, unsweetened breakfast cereals, or porridge with milk, vegetables and bean soup during your pregnancy.
